
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player, is a striker for San Diego Wave FC (NWSL) which is the top division of women's soccer in the United States. She also co-captained the United States women's soccer team from 2018 to 2020 alongside Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd. In the months following her graduation early from the University of California, Berkeley in the USA, where she played with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was picked as the first overall selection in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her debut as a professional there and was instrumental in winning the league title. Morgan was then just 22 years old. older, was the youngest national player to play at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 in which she finished second. In the 2012 London Olympics she scored the match-winning goal the 123rd minute in the semi-final game against Canada. She was able to finish 2012 with 28 goals and 21 assists, joining Mia Hamm as the only American woman who scored 20 goals and provide 20 assists within the same calendar year and making her the sixth and the tiniest U.S. player to score 20 goals in one season. She was named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year and was named a FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan was also instrumental in helping the United States winning their titles at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. Morgan was selected to both the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
