Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well recognized by her highly commendable performances in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Holly Hunter won many awards, including her first Oscar for her role in the film Piano. She began her career acting as an actress both on Broadway and Off Broadway. As a child, Helen Keller was her most loved character from a fifth class production. She became deaf in one ear after suffering from mumps but did not permit this to deter the determination of her to become an actress. The college she attended was drama, and then moved between Pittsburgh and moved to New York City to follow her dream. She met Beth Henley in an elevator and they collaborated to make Broadway Crimes of the Heart, Hunter's first film. After moving from Los Angeles she tried to obtain film roles and was offered the role of a co-star in Swing Shift. In the last three decades she's appeared in many TV and film shows. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and has been awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
