Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized for her highly laudable performance in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The film Piano was awarded an Oscar. The talented actress began her acting career in the theatre with an array of Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. She has had a passion for acting from the time she was in school. Her first role in a show in the fifth grade was Helen Keller. Mumps caused her to be blind and deaf in the one ear, but she didn't let this hinder her progress as an actress. In her teens, Hunter studied drama and then moved in New York City. She ran into Beth Henley in an elevator and they collaborated in Broadway Crimes of the Heart the first movie Hunter made. After that, she made the move into Los Angeles and tried to find movie parts. For Swing Shift, she landed the role of a back-up. Over the past three decades, since she was a part of the film, Holly Hunter has been in many films, television movies and series. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
